NOAA Weather Satellites

- V-Dipole Build & Decoding Guide -

DATE: Aug 24, 2026 FREQ: 137 MHz STATUS: SUCCESS

OVERVIEW

Welcome to the project log. This is where you can write the introduction to your experiment. For this build, I decided to pull down unencrypted weather imagery from passing NOAA satellites using nothing but some copper tubing and a cheap RTL-SDR dongle.

Here is a second paragraph explaining the challenges, the parts list, or the background theory of the RF signals you were trying to catch.

TECHNICAL STUFF

If you need to share a script, SDR console output, or telemetry data, use this block below. It simulates a raw terminal output:

> SDR device initialized (RTL2832U) > Tuning frequency to 137.100 MHz > Gain set to 38.0 dB > Waiting for NOAA-19 AOS (Acquisition of Signal)... > Signal locked. Carrier detected. > Recording baseband IQ data...

RESULTS

Wrap up the article here. Did the radishes grow? Did the antenna work? What would you change for the next version?
